The Builders Edition features Taylor V-Class bracing, which provides increased volume, extended sustain and improved intonation. Urban Ash back and sides give the guitar powerful basses, warm mids and brilliance in the trebles. The mahogany top also provides a warm tone. The rounded contours, the armrest and the beveled cutaway allow comfortable playability up to the highest registers. The satin Shaded Edge Burst also reduces noise that can arise from friction against the body. The pickup is Taylor's own active ES2 dynamic piezo system with bass, treble and volume controls.
